We woke up early in the morning, filled with excitement because we were going on a trek to Matunga Hill, which was the highest point in Hampi.
Our trek began when the sky was a deep shade of blue. As we climbed, the sky brightened. The walk up was short, but there were many rocks and steps. When we reached the summit, we experienced the beautiful sunrise. My favourite moment was when we sat on the ground by the Veerabhadra Temple and experienced the first light spread across Hampi. From up there, we could also see many historical sites like the Vittala Temple and the Hampi Bazaar.
Our guide then told us that the Matunga hill appears in the Ramayana and read us a story about Matunga. The walk down was steep, and some of us found it scary, but we got through it together.
I learned that when faced with difficulty, you will always find a friend who will be there for you. Another learning during this trek was that when we work together as a team, everything is better, and anything can be achieved as a class working together.
